FIGHT SPORTS® OPENS 2021 WITH SLATE OF BACK-TO-BACK WORLD TITLE FIGHTS
Landing exclusive rights to two World Championship Events, FIGHT SPORTS® will be broadcasting back- to-back Live Events in February. These events will be held on February 13th and February 20th, including two top light-heavyweights vying for the WBO Light Heavyweight World Title and a highly-anticipated super-featherweight title clash for the WBC Super Featherweight World Championship. First on February 13, FIGHT SPORTSTM will broadcast the vacant WBO Light-Heavyweight World Championship bout featuring Joe Smith Jr. (26-3) colliding with Maxim Vlasov (45-3). In the co-feature, former IBF Lightweight Champion Richard Commey (29-3) of Ghana, returns to the ring to take on Jackson Martinez (19-1). Smith is coming off of an impressive ninth-round knockout of the rugged Eleider Alvarez which catapulted him near the top of the rankings in one of boxing’s toughest divisions. On February 20, FIGHT SPORTSTM will feature the WBC Super-Featherweight World Championship bout between two of the world’s best 130-pounders when titleholder Miguel Berchelt (37-1) meets former WBO Featherweight Champion Oscar Valdez (28-0). Berchelt has held the title since January 2017 and has defeated his last five opponents by stoppage, while Valdez is the #1 ranked fighter in the division according to the WBC. Many have predicted this battle to be an early Fight of the Year candidate.
